WELCOME TO THE “QUOTE ... UNQUOTE”

WEBSITE

FROM NIGEL REES

REVISED 1 FEBRUARY 2016

The BBC Radio quiz Quote ... Unquote has been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in the United Kingdom since 1976.

Devised and introduced by me, the world of Quote ... Unquote now encompasses a substantial archive of material concerning quotations and ‘well-known phrases and sayings’ of many types.

When the programme is not on the air, searching for ‘lost’ quotations and for the origins of phrases and sayings is undertaken in The “Quote ... Unquote” Newsletter and through this website.

The January 2016 issue of the Newsletter is now available – free – as an e-mail-attached PDF.  To be put on the e-mailing list go to HOW TO GET IN TOUCH WITH “QUOTE ... UNQUOTE”.  This issue starts the 25th year of the Newsletter and coincides with the 40th anniversary of the first broadcast of the radio show on 4 January 1976.

Series 51 of the radio show was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 from 7 September to the 12 October 2015.   Series 52 is expected to begin in September 2016.
